In New York City, 28 year-old Cynthia Ferguson is stuck down by a respiratory attack as she heads home on the subway. By the time she arrives in Manhattan she's dead. Ending up on forensic pathologist Jack Stapleton's autopsy table reveals curious results as to the cause of death.

Fearing the possibility of Cynthia's case being the first in what could be a severe outbreak of a deadly airborne disease, Jack works in overdrive for a diagnosis. As the inconclusive tests come back, Jack sounds the alarm at the mayor's office concerned that more cases may follow.

When further cases do occur around the capital and then further afield in Los Angeles, London and Rome, Jack and Laurie must find out the link that connects all the victims before it's too late . . .

Pandemic will be a medical mystery thriller based on the new gene editing biotechnology that allows genes to be removed and/or replaced in living cells with truly amazing precision and reliability.

The story will bring back our Jack and Laurie in a plot that has the two of them battling to reconcile professional pressures with their personal relationship, even while the bodies pile up. If you're not familiar with Jack and Laurie, they're his two most beloved characters from eleven of Robin's novels, most recently CURE and DEATH BENEFIT.
