Nationally known Alaskan poet Ken Waldman's debut novel NOW ENTERING ALASKA TIME offers a glimpse of an Alaska you won't find anywhere else.

Ken Waldman's NOW ENTERING ALASKA TIME offers a glimpse of an Alaska you won't find anywhere else. Those who have lived here will recognize these characters and want to experience this world for themselves. Waldman's debut novel lingers in your mind like a good folk song.

"Ken Waldman has written a novel that explores extreme sexual liberty as it is opposed to one of the most unforgiving climates in North America. The protagonist is Zan Olsen, and the story picks up when he is twenty-eight years old, a Washingtonian whose wife leaves him in the early eighties, thereby breaking up their marriage. He determines to go to Alaska to nurse his wounds and to find work. Through him we encounter an extraordinary cast of characters. Zan goes through several relationships, culminating with one woman named Melinda, whom we've been following beforehand. The book is notable for its characters' desperation, even brutality in a frequently stark, brutal, and occasionally beautiful world, but finally most notable is Zan and Melinda's search for meaning. The economy of expression employed by Waldman is wonderful. This is an eminently readable and engaging work."--John Keeble, author of The Shadows of Owls and Out of the Channel: The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill in Prince William Sound
