"It is a biography of Dr. Louise All who worked in Africa (Tanzania) as a doctor treating epilepsy 'in the bush' for some 60 years. She made several important discoveries about epilepsy (moon madness) at various of her clinics near Mahenge. She also worked for a time as a Red Cross doctor at the hospital in the city of Matadi in the Belgian Congo during the time of the violent civil war when she had to be protected at all times by UN troops. It was the time when Lamumba was under house arrest and shortly after assassinated. At this time all the whites had largely fled from the violence. From Matadi, she went to Dr. Albert Schweitzer's hospital in Lambarâenâe (Gabon) as an expert in tropical medicine, where Schweitzer treated her almost as a daughter. After this time, she and her new husband immigrated to Canada, and did further training at McGill and at UBC. She and her husband set up an Indigenous psychiatric practice for a time in the Fraser Valley. Together and apart they have attended many medical conferences and have published many medical papers in prestigious medical journals. Louise was born in Oslo, Norway, on April 21, 1931. She now lives in the outskirts of Vancouver and is very ill."--
