First published in 1889, this index now contains more than 10,000 monographs, each describing a single substance or group of related compounds. It covers human and veterinary drugs, biologicals, natural products, agricultural compounds, commercial and laboratory chemicals and environmentally significant compounds. Over 50 per cent of the monographs have been revised for this edition, and recently developed pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, biological substances and natural products of current interest are included. All structural depictions have been redrawn and are standardized and computer-generated. New tables have been included and over 400 of the most important name reactions in organic synthesis are covered.
