Md. Shihab Uddin is an Assistant Director at the Centre for Local Governance Discourse (CLGD), Bangladesh. He holds a Master’s degree in Government and Politics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh, and is an aspiring researcher and educational consultant. His research interests span media diplomacy, forced and climate migration, environmental governance, international politics, local government, and human rights. With over six years of experience in journalism, Mr. Shihab has gained a deep understanding of media and diplomacy, with a special focus on migration and human rights. Alongside publishing a book with Springer Nature, he has authored numerous articles that have been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Beyond academia, Mr. Shihab has gained significant professional experience as a media fellow at Article 19, an international organization dedicated to defending freedom of expression and access to information. Additionally, Mr. Shihab has demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills. He served as President of the Jahangirnagar University Press Club (JUPC) and as General Secretary of Sarkar O Rajniti Bitarka Manch (Government and Politics Debate Club). He was also a sub-editor of Prottoy, the JUPC magazine, in 2022. In recognition of his journalistic excellence, he received the Best Reporter Award for four times from Jahanginagar University Debate Organization (JUDO) and JUPC from 2021 to 2023. In addition, Mr. Shihab regularly contributes editorials and analytical columns to leading Bengali and English national newspapers, where his writings appear on current issues and emerging socio-political dynamics.Professor Dr Mohammad Tarikul Islam is a Professor of Government and Politics at Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh. In South Asia, he is highly regarded as an emerging political scientist. Before joining the University, Dr Islam worked with the UNDP for a period of seven years in different capacities. Professor Islam is perhaps the rare academic who has been affiliated with Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, LSE, SOAS, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University in different prestigious capacities (Visiting Scholar, Post-Doctoral Fellow, Visiting Scientist, Visiting Professor, and Visiting Research Fellow). Professor Islam’s selected book publications include: Economic Diplomacy: Reshaping Bangladesh-Latin American Diplomatic Relations, Springer Nature; COVID in South Asia: Impact on Society, Economics and Politics, Routledge; Disaster, Governance and Development: Perspectives from Bangladesh, Springer Nature; and Local Government in Bangladesh: Contemporary Issues and Challenges, Routledge. Dr Islam is a regular contributor to the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, the Oxford Centre on Migration, Policy and Society, South Asia Blog of LSE, the Oxford Political Review, the SOAS Blog, Harvard Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Cambridge Global Human Movement, and the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore. He has a good number of publications to his credit, mostly appearing in international outlets (Routledge, Nature, Elsevier, Cambridge, SAGE, Oxford, and Springer). His articles regularly appear in some of the leading English and Bangla dailies of Bangladesh and Nepal. Dr Islam often serves as a resource at the National Defence College, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre, the National Institute of Local Government, and Police Staff College.
