Mark Twain and Me

This book is born of conversations Calvin Pritner had with himself, with his past, and with the work and life of one of our great American writers, Mark Twain. It is a conversation with memory. The topic is race and as such, it is oftentimes a difficult conversation, a sad one, a funny one - after all, Mark Twain is involved - and ultimately, a rewarding conversation. This is not an academic essay on America's longstanding and ongoing problems confronting our racial history. Neither is it a book by some "woke white guy" talking to you about how to "unlearn" racism. Rather, Pritner is genuinely interested in how we live, how we live with each other, and how we can do that better. This is a book by a man honestly exploring his history with race in this country.
