Literature is the expression of human feelings, thoughts, imaginations, and emotions which are applied in outstanding language whose purpose is to amuse the readers. Novel is one of the genres of literature. It is an imaginary prose narrative of substantial length, typically having a plot that is extended by the actions, speech and thoughts of the characters. Indian English literature, essentially, is a significant product of Indian culture and ethos on one hand and western language especially English on the other hand. It is literature originally written in English by the writers who are originally Indian by birth, by nationality or by ancestrally. It uses English language as a medium of expression but that does not mean to glorify or to adorn English language. The history of Indian Writing in English is only of one and half century old. Sake Dean Mahomed (1759-1851) was the first Indian to have written a book in English. He published his travel book, The Travels of Dean Mahomet in 1794. At the beginning of the book, he praises Genghis khan, Timur and the first Mughal Emperor Babur and describes several important cities in India.
