Saint Katherine Protectorate is a unique area for biodiversity (4350 km2) characterized by the highest mountains in Egypt, a dense wadi system and an arid climate and covers the mountainous region of Southern Sinai. There are highly developed relationship between insect pollinators and flowering plants, there are probably over 40 butterfly species within the Protectorate, which contains two endemics in the form of Satyrium gebelia and the tiny Sinai Baton Blue Pseudophilotes sinaicus; which compete to be the world's smallest butterfly. The present work studies the insects associated with the medicinal plants, their abundance and density in some wadis in the Protectorate.
