There are highly developed relationship between insect pollinators and flowering plants, there are probably over 40 butterfly species within the Protectorate, which contains two endemics in the form of Satyrium gebelia and the tiny Sinai Baton Blue Pseudophilotes sinaicus; which compete to be the world's smallest butterfly.
