Clara Newell is a young woman in the early 1900s managing Star Ranch for her parents, Lawrence and Emma Newell. Clara is content with her life and with breeding horses for her family's business. That is, until her parents arrange a marriage for her with a complete stranger, Marshall Grant. She doesn't have the faintest idea how to be a wife, companion, or lover for her new husband. She embraces the situation anyway, knowing that it is her parents desire for her to do so. Her life would drastically change after that from a young woman living her dream to the mistress of an even larger ranch, with a man who awakens every part of her, heart, body, and soul. Marshall dotes on Clara, but she doesn't know if it's from duty or out of love.
