This four-volume collection of primary sources explores women and industry during the long nineteenth century. Women and industrial work are at the heart of the industrial revolution. They were often the most numerous workers and important contributors to the protoindustrial workforce based on domestic industry. The volumes examine women's work in the home, in the factories, and the law and regulation surrounding women and industry during this period.
