In Support of Education

This book provides an analysis of the range of governing patterns set in train by the 1988 Education Reform and the White Paper of 1992 and identifies alternatives. It is based on work with users, practitioners, politicians and officials in three local authority areas and on discussions with national groups and current policy sources. It offers a range of models based upon a rigorous analysis of values, needs, functions and structures implied by past, present and future thinking about educational governance. It aims to be of use to all concerned with the effective provision of public services, as well as those involved directly in education.
