Michał Marciak received his PhD from Leiden University in 2012. He holds an MA in History (majoring in Jewish Studies) from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (2007), an MA in Theology (majoring in Biblical Studies) from the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow (2007), and a postgraduate degree in GIS from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (2017). In 2021, he was appointed Associate Professor at Jagiellonian University. Professor Marciak has gained fieldwork experience in southeastern Turkey, Kurdish Iraq, Israel and Jordan. He has been a visiting scholar at a number of foreign universities. His portfolio includes research grants and scholarships from both Polish and international research institutions. He has also served as Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Jewish Studies, JU (2020–2028) and Chairman of the Revision Committee of the Polish Association of Jewish Studies (2018–2022).
