The "Corpo Santo" is an Amazonian socio-religious phenomenon, observed in the region of Lago do Mimi, in the municipality of Coari, in the state of Amazonas. The book is based on the author's master's thesis and seeks to highlight a sociocultural aspect little seen and/or recognized by the media and hegemonic society: the popular religiosity of the caboclos bordering the Amazon. Besides revealing the phenomenon "Corpo Santo" (Holy Body), the work brings as its motto the symbolic effectiveness of communication with the sacred. And it reveals to us how, in an artisanal way, the reibeirinhos (especially the inhabitants of the Terra Preta Community) weave perpetual links of communication with a divine being. A presence that goes beyond the human materiality of terrestrial life and subverts the dogmas of erudite, institutionalized religion. The first part of the book is theoretically dense and presents the main theoretical bases chosen by the author to present and interpret the phenomenon. However, the last chapters reveal the true jewel of this academic incursion: the narratives of the social actors involved, who brighten up this work with all the wisdom of their orality.
