Haptoglobin Phenotype Polymorphism in Diabetic Nephropathy

Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases with India being regarded as its capital. It has been observed that some patients benefit more with the treatment and are at less risk of complications than others. Besides other factors, genetic make-up of an individual plays a crucial role in it. This book is about the role of haptoglobin phenotype and its implications in diabetic complications and its progression. The objective of this study was to determine the haptoglobin phenotype polymorphism in normoalbuminuria, microalbuminuria and macroalbuminuria and to compare Hp phenotype polymorphism with other variables, which shows the progression of diabetes towards diabetic nephropathy.
