NTRODUCTION The introductory chapter delineates the observations and rationale of the research. An investigation into the observations extracts the research hypothesis and research problem. These observations are known as hermeneutical situations. The review of literature calibrates the scope and significance of the research. In short, the purpose of the introductory chapter is to demarcate the scope and objectives of the study as well as to signify the relevance of the research problem. The procedure begins with the understanding credentials of hermeneutical research and develops through the analysis of hermeneutical situations (context) and review of the literature (text). Based on the analysis, the conclusion cogently summarises the rationale of the research. In addition to that, this chapter is a descriptive analysis of the research topic. 1.1 HERMENEUTICAL STUDY OF CONCEPTS The word "Hermeneutics" initially refers to text interpretation, especially in the fields of philology, biblical exegesis and jurisprudence. On the threshold of the new phase of hermeneutics, there is a paradigm shift from the interpretation of sacred texts to the interpretation of human activities.
