Escaping the Protectors

Damilola Adeleke aka (Dami) is a young Nigerian girl who went through many challenges and abuse in life. The book illuminates her life story of growing up poor in a society where men are dominantly considered powerful. After losing her beloved father at a very young age, she and her mother struggle to survive the cruel reality of the world. Shortly after her father's passing, her mother gave her away, causing her to be tossed from home to home; living with different brutal adopted families. While she struggles to discover herself and her inner childhood, she also tried to win the love of her mother. One night, while she was sent on an errand, she stared into the dark peaceful sky and made a wish upon a star. Her wish, many years later, seemed to come to pass when she discovered herself in a new world, although she had not realized it yet. Is it the end of her struggle or is it just the beginning? Do wishes really come true?
