Throughout the globe, in vineyard regions, there are grapevine varieties, which after long period of time have adjusted to climatic-edaphic conditions of given areas. Such an assortment bears the name - autochthonous or aboriginal. In recent years in viticulture world there is a growing interest for determining both the identity and origin of certain less known varieties. Description of grapevine varieties and Vitis species, inter alia, is done using OIV descriptors. This book offers to professionals in viticulture and ampelography, a comprehensive overview on ecological conditions for grapevine cultivation in Montenegro. The book provides detailed conditions, and numerous ampelographic, agro-biological, and economic-technological characteristics of autochthonous Montenegrin varieties (Vranac, Kratoshia, Krstach, Zizak, and Muskacela). Results are shown on 128 tables, 88 figures, and 48 photos. In addition, the map of Montenegrin vineyard region is also presented. Special attention is given to historic background and description of variety Kratoshia (Zinfandel, California), which has aroused great interest in the world of viticulture.
