Dream Dance

Dreams Dance is a glaring testimony to the life of Mark Nwagwu, a man born with a broad-based talent which copiously equipped him for whatever drew his fancy.

A memoir of twenty-seven chapters is divided into five parts: Dreams Bud: Early Years (1937-1956), Dreams Dare (1957-1961), Dreams Frolic (1961-1965), Dreams Drive (1965-1989) and Dreams Drum (1989 - 2020). Nwagwu truthfully called them the 'dreams' to which he 'danced' all his life. His 'dreams' were not myths, but 'dances' to the graces and mercies of God. This thrilling chronicle unveils in Nwagwu's father's house, and the interesting circumstances that saw the author - the boy with many names - studying in different primary schools. Then came his dancing dreams in St. Patricks College, Ikot Ansa, and later in the University College Ibadan.

Dreams Dances is also a story about Helen Nwagwu, who conquered the author's soul with dreams brimming with breathless joy. Their shared existence for 60 years is the utmost dream that Mark Nwagwu danced. All of the author's dreams - the luminous academic career as a professor of cell and molecular biology, a renowned scientist, sportsman, intervention in youth leadership, his prodigious talent as a creative writer, a father, and grandfather - are defined and enveloped in Helen.

Dreams Dance is therefore, how the author's dreams soared through majestic dances in and with Helen Onyemazuwa Nwagwu (1943-2018), who's eyes continue to chant surreal poems to Mark Nwagwu.
