Demosaicking of Color Filter Array of Digital Cameras

Demosaicking is the process of reconstructing a full color image from the incomplete color samples acquired by an image sensor overlaid with a color filter array in most consumer digital cameras. There are several demosaicking algorithms, each with different properties that accordingly impact the final quality of the output image. This book discusses the different demosaicking algorithms available and introduces a novel approach that combines two algorithms sequentially creating a hybrid algorithm. It combines frequency domain demosaicking with wavelet post-processing to provide better quality full-resolution images. References to a downloadable Matlab toolbox implementation of this hybrid algorithm, along with a video presentation of this interesting topic is mentioned in the book.
