Current concepts on Temporomandibular disorders

Temporomandibular disorder requires frequent visits by primary care physicians, internists and pediatricians. Some approaches to understanding the basic causes of these conditions may prove to be promising, as much of the fundamental pathophysiology remains poorly understood. Future efforts in the fields of genetics, pain research and arthritis offer the possibility of better defining this heterogeneous group of disorders and providing more focused and effective treatment strategies.
