The study examines the ratings of well-being of road users within Ikorodu Local Government Area, Lagos, Nigeria on factors influencing intra-urban travel distress as it affects their physical and psychological health. The results of the regression analysis and correlation analysis shows that there is a positive significant relationship between commuting stress (intra-urban travel stress in this case) and the psychological distress of residents in Ikorodu LGA on one hand; and that there is a positive significant linear relationship between the available transport facilities and infrastructure and commuting (intra-urban travel) stress within the LGA. These findings suggest that intra-urban travel constitute a major threat to psychological well-being of women and men, and irrespective of the residential density, the travel stress experienced by the residents is determined by the available transport facilities and infrastructure and are deficient in terms of quantity and quality. The issue of concern therefore is to make intra-urban transportation services not only affordable, but accessible, safe and appropriate.
