Communications Policy in Europe

This text gives the proceedings of the 4th Annual Communications Policy Research Conference 1989, and includes the papers presented and notes on the discussions. The annual conferences in this series provide a forum where current research in the field of European communications policy is debated from the perspectives of social science, economics, engineering and law alike. Fundamental and rapid technological progress, the substantial increase in the internationalization of markets and firms' activities, the reorientation towards the competitive forces of the market, and the vision of a unified Europe have all had a significant impact on the communications industry and communications policy during the 1980s. The papers in this volume focus on important issues of communications policy in the last decade of this century.
