Christopher Johnson, a former serviceman of the Royal Corps of Transport, has spent the last thirty years obsessed by where his father fought in the Imphal Campaign. He has met many of the men who fought there, corresponded with the Japanese enemy, travelled to the area and made friends with the locals, soaking up after three decades the information of what happened during the battle of Lion Box. By doing this he found out how valuable oral history can be and inadvertently became a historian in military matters. To this day he is central to organising the various memorial services, from Kanglatongbi to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. Christopher once explained that meeting the men who fought there and their families, and those who still live in the area has changed his life with these wonderful friendships.
