Arthur Burns and the Successor Generation

Arthur Burns, known throughout the world as a teacher, economist, central banker, and counselor to presidents, devoted the last years of his life-while he was U.S. Ambassador in Germany and after his return to Washington in 1985-to the young people in the U.S. and Europe, the successor generation. He studied, spoke, and wrote about the need for greater mutual knowledge and understanding among the future leaders of the Atlantic community.
