The Book explores the different experiences formerly abducted women face while accessing land which is very important for their survival and socio-economic development. The study was carried out in Gulu district in Northern Uganda that suffered tremendously from the conflict by the Lord's Resistance Army rebels. The researcher sought to explore the access to land by formerly abducted women given that they are vulnerable and need support to agitate for their socio-economic rights for instance the right to access and ownership of land. In many settings in Uganda, women do not have equal access to land and this situation is complex for some of the women that were taken to captivity and returned especially those with male children. Some of the women that were interviewed confessed to have suffered from stigma and discrimination that affected them from accessing resources like land that is very important especially for their full integration in the society. Thus the researcher talked to the formerly abducted women, their families, members of the civil society and the government officials about means of ensuring that the laws and policies protect vulnerable groups on land issues.
