Frank Hopkinson has researched and commissioned over 50 Then and Now titles in North America from Atlanta to Albuquerque, from Portland to Puerto Rico, including best-sellers New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Las Vegas and Washington DC. He has photographed many of the cities featured including Brooklyn, New Orleans and Savannah as well as going on the road to capture the nostalgic motels of Route 66. Ballparks Then and Now and Civil War Battlefields are two constantly revised titles that have made him a Cubs fan and given him a deep appreciation of the work of Mathew Brady and Alexander Gardner. His favourite book is Mark Twain’s America Then and Now, which charts the formative places the great author lived and worked and resulted in an invitation to Elmira, Twain’s octagonal ‘pilot house’ on the hill.
