Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century

The armed services are facing uncertain times. For the past few years, our country has been fighting some form of the long war--the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). As of September 2006, the cost of the GWOT for the United States is estimated at approximately $507B.2 Coupled with aging equipment, decreased funding, manpower reductions, new and emerging missions, and a host of other pressures, the services are being forced to streamline and transform operations.
