When the sun scorched the Earth, the Dagashi ships came to 'help'. Now they make humans trade scavenged tech for food and power.

Jax is a 'Mule'. He gives rides to the aliens, using implants that let them experience everything he does. The links have always been one way - until a girl speaks to him. No harm. Just two people being friends. Until she begs him to help her get free of the alien ship. They find a way to get him inside, and they meet.

Now nothing is what is seemed to be - not the girl, not the world around him, and definitely not the Dagashi.

Jax has to battle for control of his thoughts and emotions as what is left of the world turns against him and throws him into a dark adventure of love and betrayal.
