The excellence of Italian design through 100 vases from the beginning of the last century to the present

What differentiates - if it does - an "Italian" vase in the countless production of vases? The vase is a common and familiar object and, at the same time, an object that lends itself to the most varied interpretations, in which Italian designers have distinguished themselves for their originality and recognisability (to say nothing of the original "sustainability" of the vase-object, usually made of the most ecological materials, such as clay or glass silica).

100 Italian Vases aims to analyze and illustrate the concept of Italian "style", examining one of the most common and long-lived typologies. In the form of a "repertory", the reader can discover different typologies of vases: the selection includes vases - generally gone into production, even in small and very small series - from the last one hundred years, from Galileo Chini to Fabio Novembre, passing through the great season from the 1930s to the 1960s. Introduced by the essays by Marco Meneguzzo and Enrico Morteo on the concept and the history of Italian vases, the book invites the reader to discover 100 years of materials, forms, tradition and invention.
