From algorithms to sensors, digitalisation encompasses a variety of technological innovations. Equally multifaceted are the dimensions in which it transforms society and is shaped by it at the same time. Thre are effects on communication in the public sphere, on science and agriculture, as well as the interactions with law, the economy and ecology the contributors to this volume explore these and other aspects of digitalisation from various theoretical perspectives. In doing so, they open up perspectives that allow digitalisation to be understood and explained as socio-technical change.
