Flying Away tells the true story of the growth and development in an eager young soul seeking the meaning of life. It moves from her birth and early life in country N.S.W., transition to city life, work experiences, her tentative forays into the tantalising world of sexual experimentation and into the worlds of University, acting, and travel. Along this roller coaster journey, Sheelagh Wennersten meets and falls irrevocably in love with her soul mate. She then marries him six weeks later. So of course, this is also her husband’s story, his adventurous life in Australia before his marriage, the transition of the newly-weds to Mexico. This love-at-first sight romance filled with excitement and fulfilment, soon transforms as they welcome the births, in quick succession, of three lusty boys and a much-desired daughter. Book One of Sheelagh's story ends with the family’s return to Australia after eight and a half years in Mexico.
